New Release: Hidden Magic Anthology

On March 10, 2020, Hidden Magic released. This is an anthology featuring stories about – you guessed it – hidden magic. I decided to participate with a story of my own, set in a fantasy realm I hope to explore more in future stories. This story in particular is set in the Seven Kingdoms, in a dark time when mages are branded and their magic is destroyed.

Here is the blurb for my story The Mark of the Red God:

All mages of the Seven Kingdoms have been branded with a rune that makes it impossible for them to access their magic. Despite the mark, Saleyna Loxley, a sixteen-year-old girl from a small town, still has access to some of her powers. As an Empath, she can connect with other people and sense their emotions. Sometimes, she can even influence other people’s emotions. However, as the Red Priests are keen to destroy any magic-wielder, Saleyna must hide her magic at all costs.

The story will be continued in the sequel anthologies, Wayward Magic (April 14, 2020) and Forgotten Magic (May 12, 2020).

Synopsis for Hidden Magic:

No matter the world, life can be dangerous. Be they wizards and shamans, assassins, or everyday people, Hidden Magic tells their stories about escape, consequences, and most of all, magic.

From Earth cities and fantastical new worlds comes a collection of stories where heroes grapple with the seen and unseen in order to save themselves, their families, and often the world. This collection features:

  • Elderly antiques experts interacting with souls
  • Shamans growing outlawed magic
  • Baby chimeras battling for their lives
  • Children sprouting fluffy tails
  • A king’s boat thrown off-course
  • A perfect life coming at a not-so-perfect cost
  • Vikings defending a village against the unseen
  • A lone shifter atoning for his past mistakes
  • Trolls and pixies tumbling through the doorway to another world
  • And more!
