Author Interview with Kristyn Stone
I’m hosting an interview today with Kristyn Stone, author of YA fantasy “The Resistance: Duchess”. Thanks for visiting, and answering my questions.
When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I started writing as a hobby in my early teens, but never really thought about writing as anything more until my early twenties. I had this story I wanted to share but couldn’t figure out how to share with many people until someone suggested I try to publishing. Once I started researching about the process I wanted it more and more. So I worked harder and pushed farther.
What inspired you to write The Resistance: Duchess?
I was reading my first book wondering how I can move forward with Garritt but I realized his sister also had a secret and she needed to move forward before Garritt could. I never explained her absence in book one and figured maybe I’m not the only one that questioned what was going on.
What is your editing process like?
read on computer- red note changes
print/ red pen changes
type up changes
print-send to couple of trusted people to read/review/red pen
review their notes
process and make changes
start over
finalize
I go through what I think needs to be, I send it off once I can’t find anymore mistakes to those I trust to read and help. They will go through it and tell me their thoughts and they red pen that thing with a vengeance; once they are finished I go over what they did, I make changes that I think are best and then I start over with typing it up and making my mark ups then send it back to them to red pen it again. After that second round unless there are major changes to be made I stop and finalize it. Otherwise you will be correcting it to the point that it isn’t a story anymore or interesting but some boring school project.
What was the most challenging thing about writing this book?
Normally I would say the editing process but I think the attention to details was my hardest. Making sure each little detail from book one and book two matched was the hardest part of this round.
Are you working on something now?
I am working on a project that is not mine, someone very dear to me has been stuck on their project and I have been lending a hand with reading and giving input. I’m interested in the project since it is outside my comfort zone, completely new to me so learning this subject and the details of this story has me on the edge of my seat to see what happens next.

In this second book of The Resistance series Garritt’s twin Baylee takes center stage. Baylee has a hard time being a leprechaun, but when she is captured, she must figure out if she wants to be a normal teenager, an elf for her people or a ruler of leprechauns and elves.

Author Bio
I am a mother of two wonderful little leprechauns. I am a twenty-seven year old bookworm. I’m a day dreaming, writing stories, photography taking, little nerd, and PROUD. I have been writing for a few years now and hoping to influence the next generations with imagination and hopefully turn them into fans!
I live in Colorado now, where the views are amazing, there is nothing like this view! I have lived in Florida growing up (which is where the beginning of Garritt’s story starts) I have lived in Alabama but nothing compares to Colorado. I do miss the weather in Florida, I’m not a big fan of the white stuff (snow) in the winter.
