Author Interview with E.B. Black
I’m interviewing E.B. black today, author of fantasy romance “Bright’s Passion”. Welcome to my blog!
Author Interview
When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I was about eighteen years old. I had always been a daydreamer and a reader all of my life. I liked how writing can make your daydreams come to life. I had written a few chapters of things in the past, but this time, I was serious. I wanted to finish a novel, not just start one and I read that you have to write every day and discipline yourself in order to finish a book. So I forced myself to write regularly until it became a habit that I can’t break.
What inspired you to write Bright’s Passion?
Facebook actually inspired me. Facebook has inspired me to write a few stories. I kept seeing these pictures on facebook about the romance between the sun and the moon. How the sun will chase the moon forever and will only catch her on a few occasions. The result is so beautiful (an eclipse) that the whole world stares. It made me romanticize the idea of a sun god and a woman of the night falling in love. That’s how the god of light trilogy was born.
What is your editing process like?
I write a first draft and it’s always a mess with notes everywhere of things I need to change. I read it over and over again, fixing and deleting the notes and anything else that I find, until they are gone. Then I show it to a few critique partners, make notes of the things they said and repeat the process again until I feel like the book is complete.
Who is your favorite character from your book?
Bright is my favorite character. He’s not most people’s favorites, but he’s mine. This is because I gave him certain traits that my husband also shares. They’re not identical, but those descriptions of his sunny appearance, blond hair, and beautiful smile remind me of my husband so much. I feel like if my husband was a color, he’d be the color yellow.
Did you set any writing goals for 2016? If so, what are they?
I would really like to self-publish two more novels that I already have partly written by the end of the year. I’m also working, this month, on submitting something to a publisher. Those are my goals so far. I don’t know if I can complete them in time, but it’s fun to reach high.
Are you working on something now?
Yes, I finished the second book in the god of light trilogy, Night’s Lust and it’s available for sale already for after people finish reading Bright’s Passion. I am working on the third book of the trilogy right now, it’s called Star’s Heat. I am also working on editing a young adult fantasy novel that I wrote years ago about necromancers called Spirit Speaker.
About the Book
Author: E.B. Black
Genre: Fantasy Romance
Bright wishes he wasn’t the god of the suns.
Every day is the same: he makes the suns rise and then they set. He looks down at humanity’s corruption. He watches wars, people starving, and thieves stealing.
He can’t help. Every time he tries, the humans take something from him. They’ve destroyed his family and he has no doubt that they’d like to destroy him, too.
Adonya is a raven-haired witch with powers that make her as close to a goddess as a human can be. He’s wondered what it was like to be with a woman, but all the goddesses are dead.
He can feel it when he touches her–she’s as dangerous as all the rest of the humans. Can the power of love join their races together? Or will one of them wind up dead in the end?
