Author Interview Degrees of Control
Today I’m interviewing Eve Dangerfield, author of erotic romance “Degrees of Control”. Welcome to my blog!
Author Interview
When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I don’t think I ever made a definitive decision. I knew I loved writing but like a lot of people I assumed I didn’t have the drive or the talent to be an author. One day my curiosity got the better of my fear and I spent a few months writing my first complete novel; Degrees of Control. I don’t think I really acknowledged I was an author until I was filling out my author profile on Goodreads!
What inspired you to write Degrees of Control?
I wanted to write the kind of novel I’d never really read before. One in which a normal, loveable young woman knows she has a kink that’s kind of filthy and seeks out a male partner to fulfil that role in her life. I also wanted to have a lot of female friendship and banter.
What is your editing process like?
Kind of tortured and painful but really rewarding. I write a first draft from start to finish then rinse and repeat a couple of times. Usually by the third edit I have something workable and consistent so I give it to a couple of mates for feedback and some perspective on the characters. I love writing but my favourite stage is probably the fourth edit when you’re just changing minor things and the bulk of the story is smooth and workable.
Who is your favorite character from your book?
I love Charlie and James, my leads but I think my secret favourite is Charlie’s friend Hayley. She’s this loose cannon redhead who just says whatever she’s thinking, drinks hard and parties harder. She’s based on a combination of a few real-world mates, the kind who are always up for Friday night cocktails and dancing. We all need a Hayley in our lives.
Do you have any writing goals for 2016?
To release my second book Locked Box which is coming out on the 7th of March and to finish my third and fourth novels. I have a tendency to bite off more than I can chew though so I’ll try not to push myself too hard.
Are you working on something now?
Right now I’m writing my third novel Something Borrowed. It’s an ‘enemies to lovers’ romance that goes down over the course of a destination wedding in Bali. I’m having a lot of fun writing it.
About the Book
Author: Eve Dangerfield
Genre: Romance
Charlotte Bell is a typical yoga teacher. She’s friendly, earnest and has some slight masochistic tendencies. After a painful break-up she’s determined to address her long-denied kinks with the kind of man she’s always been too terrified to approch. Her friends have select James Hunter a male model turned corporate suit and after a ‘chance’ encounter at a party, James agrees to school Charlie in the harsher side of sex. He knows she’s too genuine, too kind, too everything for a guy like him but he won’t turn down an opportunity to break in a starry-eyed submissive like her. Yet as Charlie and James embark on a strings-free sexual relationship they discover a connection that runs deeper than either of them could have imagined.
Author Bio
Eve Dangerfield has loved romance novels since she first started swiping her grandmother’s paperbacks at the age of fourteen. Now she writes her own unapologetically sexy tales about complex women and gorgeous-but-slightly-tortured men. Eve currently lives in Melbourne with her lovely sister, extremely chill boyfriend and a rabbit named Billy. When she’s not writing she can usually be found drinking, dancing or making a mess. Often all at once. Degrees of Control is her first novel.
