A to Z Challenge: G is for Gaming

GThe A to Z challenge is a challenge in which bloggers post every day during the entire month, and each day has a post starting with a different letter of the alphabet. The first day, the post features “A”, the second day “B”, and so on. It’s much better explained on the Blogging from A to Z website, so I’ll just refer you there.

I’m going to talk about another hobby of mine today. You all know that I love writing (duh!) and reading (duh!) but I’m also an avid gamer. And I’m not just talking computer games. I play board games, too, and regularly. But most of my time when I’m not working or writing, I spend playing games.

My favorite game is “World of Warcraft”. I often take long (very long) breaks, but I always turn back to it. I have a bunch of level 90s, one level 100 (my main, a blood elf warlock), and then a whole group of lowbies (basically characters I still have to level). I enjoy playing WoW because I can play it with my friends. We team up for dungeons and raids and we try to defeat bosses, and it’s a whole lot of fun.

But apart from WoW, I have about a hundred games in my Steam library. A bunch of them are multiplayer or co-op, so I play them with my friends. Games like “Left 4 Dead”, “Age of Empires”, “Counter-Strike”, “Killing Floor”, and a lot more.

But every so often, I like to play all by myself, and I have a bunch of singleplayer games that I like to play. For me, singleplayer games need to have an interesting storyline. I love the “Alan Wake” series, for example, because the storyline left me guessing. I also enjoy” Alice: Madness Returns”, the “Batman” series, “Bioshock” and “Bioshock Infinite” (that storyline is downright epic), and tons more. I like games that have a little bit of horror in them (or sometimes, a lot of horror), and I don’t mind getting scared, so you’ll find a ton of horror games in my Steam library too.

It might not come as a surprise, but I love visual novels too. I have a bunch of visual novel games, like “Magical Diary” and “Long Live The Queen”. Games that have some humor work well for me too.

So, what about you? Do you like gaming, or do you hate it?
