What’s Up Wednesday #16
Whatโs Up Wednesday is a weekly blog hop created by Jaime Morrow and Erin Funk. The goal of this hop is to help connect writers on their writing journey. You can find out more about the blog hop here.
What I’m Reading
I finished “Doll Face” by Tim Curran just the other day – a novel about a group of twenty-somethings who end up in an abandoned town that’s a replica of a town that burned down in the 1960s, which is now inhabited by dolls. Quite creepy, but a little repetitive. Next up is “Within” by Keith Deininger, another horror book.
What I’m Writing
I’m working onย Ghostslayer.ย I’m still at 40k, but I’d like to make it to 50k by the end of the week, or at least by next Wednesday.
What Works For Me
Reading other books can be so inspiring. Some books inspire me so much I can think of several short stories loosely based on the concept, or even something totally unrelated, yet inspired by it.
What Else is New
I’m setting up a cover reveal party for my upcoming book, Reflected (Mirrorland #2), on March 24. The book is a YA dark fantasy / paranormal romance. If you’d like to participate in the cover reveal (and I’d really appreciate that), then please go here.
Reading can be such wonderful inspiration, can’t it? ๐
Best of luck reaching 50k and have a great week!
I’m a chicken when it comes to horror, but IF I could read it without having to search my closets the next weeks, those sound good. I’m signed up for the reveal already – can’t wait to see it ๐
OMG, Doll Face sounds absolutely terrifying! Too bad it was a bit repetitive, but it sounds like you generally enjoyed it? And I absolutely agree that reading other books can be so inspiring! It gets the creative juices flowing.
Good luck with your cover reveal and writing goals this week!
I often feel inspired by the stories I read too. My most recent read has inspired me to work a little harder on my prose. Good luck with your writing goal this week! ๐
I find reading horror easier than watching it. I can’t watch horror movies *at all*! I’m such a horror wuss!
Your wips sound really interesting, good luck with them!
I’m with you, there are books that I read over and over because they are just so well done that I find I’m inspired every time.
Good luck with your writing goal this week! *send you cookies to help you make 50K* ๐
