Author Interview with Netta Newbound
I’m hosting an interview with Netta Newbound, author of thriller / suspense “An Impossible Dilemma”. Welcome, Netta, and thanks for answering my questions.
Author Interview
- When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I’ve always loved writing since childhood but I never took it seriously until approx. 10 years ago when my friend introduced me to Romance Writers of NZ.
2. Where did you get the inspiration for An Impossible Dilemma?
I’ve always been intrigued by how parenthood can turn the mildest mannered person into a raving lunatic–the desire to protect your child is fierce. Years ago–after reading Stephen King’s Pet Semetery– I remember feeling absolute horror for what the father did. At the time, my middle son was the same age as the little boy in the book and I know, in my heart of hearts, I would have done exactly the same if in his position.
- What is your editing process like?
I write longhand so my first edit comes as I transfer to the laptop. Then once my first draft is complete I put it away for a few months. When I get back to it I can read it with completely fresh eyes. I then read and re-read it several times before sending to my critique partners and finally my editor.
- What was the most challenging part of writing this book?
The medical part for sure. Although Emily’s illness is fictitious, I had to research a lot of other information and practices.
- Did you set any writing goals for 2014? Did you accomplish them?
Yes. I wanted to get four books completed and up on Amazon before the end of the year and although difficult, I managed it.
- What are your writing goals for 2015?
I am aiming to have another four books completed before Christmas 2015.
- Are you working on something now? If so, can you tell us a little about it?
I have completed the first draft of Embellished Deception, a standalone thriller novel set in Cumbria UK. It is due to be released early next year, and also Mind Benders the third book in the Adam Stanley Thriller Series. This is only half written at this stage but will be released next year.

When Jonathan is suddenly killed in a farming accident, Victoria turns to her sick father-in-law, Frank, for help. A series of events present Victoria and Frank with a situation that, although illegal, could help save Emily.
Will they take it?

Netta Newbound, originally from Manchester, England, now lives in New Zealand with her husband Paul and their boxer dog Alfie. She has three grown-up children and two delicious grandchildren.
