Author Interview with C.O.B.
I’m interviewing C.O.B., author of YA Fantasy “Rocket Ship”. Thanks to the author for responding to my interview questions, and welcome to my blog.
Author Interview
When did you know you wanted to become an author?
I know I wanted to become an author when I realized in high school that I was no good in football, basketball, baseball, nor hockey. And then, I got sent to the guidance counselor’s office for an essay I wrote.
Where did you get the inspiration for Rocket Ship?
My daughter was the inspiration behind Rocket Ship. She made me realize that the world, my environment, that I grew up in is very different from the one she is now growing up in. She made me ask myself a lot questions I never imagined asking myself before which manifested in the story of Rocket Ship.
What is your editing process like?
My editing process is: get someone else to do it. I feel that completing a book takes a lot of energy and at the end of it, I usually find myself drained and in need of help.
What was the most challenging part about writing this book?
The most challenging part about this book was making sure I paid enough attention to all characters. And I’m not really talking about the main characters; it’s the secondary characters that need the most attention because everyone sees/reads them as secondary characters, but I want people/readers to see them as ‘real’ characters.
What are your writing goals for 2014?
My writing goals for 2014 is to release the two books I have slated for this year and…I’m half way there.
Are you working on something right now? If so, can you tell us about it?
I am currently working on my second installment of “Words and Graphics” – a collection of poems, short stories, and other styles of writing, with the addition of images – it all makes for a unique adventure for the reader. This second installment will be available later this summer.
About Rocket Ship
Author: C.O.B.
Genre: YA Fantasy
Lincoln and Gary are best friends planning a simple trip to the night rock in the sky. However, they quickly find out that “easier said than done” is far more than just an outdated adage; it is a reality, for the dreamers face obstacle after obstacle in trying to gather the materials they need to build their ship. Not only that, but when their plan is discovered, their two-man field trip becomes much more than that. Now, the captain and the general will have to lead a rescue mission, one of far greater importance than they ever imagined. What would you do? Save only yourself or risk it all to save the lives of others as well as your own?
Rocket Ship is the miraculous, thrilling story of two friends, a tale of two hopefuls, two dreamers, two rescuers and the extremes they go through to save one another and others like them, before the world they live in destroys them all.
