Author Interview with Dakota Madison
I’m interviewing Dakota Madison, author of “Community Service”, a contemporary romance novel. Welcome to my blog, Dakota, and thanks for answering my questions.
Author Interview
1) Can you tell us about the challenge you did last year – 12 books in 12 months. Would you do it again?
It was an extremely valuable experience. I feel like my writing skills improved dramatically. I would never do it again and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone! It’s quite stressful and I didn’t have much of a life other than writing.
My favorite book so far is FIRE ON ICE. The book is about a hot hockey player, Kian Kavanagh. I think I like the book so much because Kian is the character I’ve created who is most like my husband.
The hardest book to write was the follow-up to FIRE ON ICE, which is called THE PLAYMAKER. The book deals with rape and it’s not something I’ve personally experienced. I had to do a lot of research and the subject matter was quite intense to write.
It may sound strange but I usually dream parts of my books. I dreamed about Maggie and her having the car accident and it being a police car that she hit. I knew I wanted her to be assigned to community service at a local theater. The most surprising aspect of the book is that when Sawyer Reed arrived, he was using a wheelchair. I was expecting that! Characters really do surprise you sometimes!
I’m writing the second book in a four-book series about four sexy brothers and their local country band. I released the first book, WILDE RIDERS, last month (writing under the pen name Savannah Young). The second book will be released in April.
I like to call WILDE RIDERS (and the rest of the OLD TOWN COUNTRY ROMANCE series, HickLit. If you like your trucks loud, your beer cold and your men hot, you’ll love WILDE RIDERS.
About Community Service
Author: Dakota Madison
Genre: Contemporary Romance
As Maggie Mitchell enters her final semester of college, the last thing she wants is a guy in her life, let alone two of them.
Her new lab partner, Sawyer Reed, is still the overconfident and sexy jock that made fun of her in high school. The only thing that has changed is that he now uses a wheelchair, the result of a skiing accident.
Jude Marino is a hot actor who all the girls want and would do anything to get. He works at a local theater where Maggie has been assigned to complete community services hours after rear-ending a police car.
Both Sawyer and Jude want Maggie but only one of them will be able to capture her heart.
