Author Interview

When did you know you wanted to become an author?

I realized I wanted to become an author around elven years old when I really developed my love for writing. I used to write on notebook paper and keep my books in three-ring binders before we got our first computer. I feel like I just dated myself. I did.

Where did you get the inspiration for Down to Business?

The inspiration for Down to Business stems from my love of romance stories and my obsession with Italian food.

What is your editing process like?

I write the first draft without any editing. Then once it’s done, I reward myself with dinner someplace awesome like Texas De Brazil (my fav!) because I know what is coming next…editing. My editing process is downright painful to myself and everyone around me. I usually comb through the first draft and add whatever parts I feel needed refreshing, and then I will re-read it again and change a bunch of lines that were probably fine in the first place. After that, I will read it all over again just to make sure I didn’t miss anything (because I am a champ at over-reacting), and only then will I let my betas have a go at it. I will also read it out loud to my husband and best friends and also listen to it on a read back voice program too. Like I said, it’s painful to do and painful to talk about.

What was the most challenging part about writing Down to Business?

The most challenging part about writing the story was figuring out how much drama to put in it. I have been accused of being a drama queen and dragging my characters through the mud to get them to where they need to go. Hey, it builds character…

What are your writing goals for 2014?

My goals for 2014 are to finish the next book in the business series called Taking Care of Business. After that I plan to release two novellas for the series, one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas.

Are you working on something right now? If so, can you tell us more about it?

I am working on the second book in the business series, called Taking Care of Business, due out summer of 2014.

The one thing that she isn’t planning on…is falling for irresistible Vinny Mazzola.

To outsiders, Hamptons born Vinny Mazzola has it all: good looks, money, and an esteemed reputation. While studying business at Adelphi, the last thing he expects to do is fall in love with awkward Autumn Malone, who forces him to ask himself what’s really important in life.

When the opportunity arises for Autumn to work at Vinny’s family-owned Italian restaurant, Mazzolas, it seems like a perfect way for her to get to know him better. That is until she meets his over protective mother and his conceited ex-girlfriend who both want nothing more than to get rid of her. Between frats, family, friends, and foes, when it comes down to business, will Autumn and Vinny have to sacrifice everything for a love they can’t live without?
