Author Interview with Dielle Ciesco
I’m interviewing Dielle Ciesco today. She’s the author of metaphysical fiction novel “The Unknown Mother”. Thank you for answering my questions, Dielle, and welcome to my blog!
Author Interview
When did you know you wanted to become an author?
I’ve always loved writing, but the fact that I actually became an author often astounds me. It wasn’t something I always planned; It sort of just happened. But if I look back on my life, I can see the seeds of it being planted in some of my earliest experiences with books and in school. Words are incredible tools and so fun to play with!
Where did you get the inspiration for The Unknown Mother?
This book pretty much encapsulates everything I’ve learned since 2000 on my own journey working with Sound Healing, Sacred Sound, and the Toltec path of personal freedom, but it’s worked into fiction. I really wanted to share my experiences with others and hopefully turn people on to the power of sound, words, thoughts, and breath…what I call the 10 Gates of Sound…because we all have access and we can all benefit from working with these energies. They’ve been completely transforming for me.
How long did it take you to write The Unknown Mother from start to finish?
Ah, interesting story, that. Two pieces had to fall into place. First, I had been trying to write this thing as nonfiction for years. It wasn’t until I read a book by Victor Wooten, The Music Lesson, that I was inspired to totally change tactics and write fiction. But I also received inspiration as a download of sorts after doing some powerful shamanic breathwork. After that experience, I just knew exactly what to write and how. The book wrote itself in about two months. It was effortless!
What is your editing process like?
I hired the most awesome editor for this book, Mark Bloom. His detailed work with the text made it so much tighter, and as a result of working with his suggestions, it’s made me a much better writer…and editor. I was able to present a very clean text to my publisher. It wasn’t a cheap process, but it was worth every penny for all that it taught me.
What was the most challenging part about writing The Unknown Mother?
The voices of doubt. At so many points along the way, I could have so easily listened to all those voices (outside and in) that said writing a book was too hard, impossible, not worth it, etc. It really pushed me beyond a lot of my comfort zones. Ironically, once it was written, the harder thing for me was the querying and working with a publisher, then marketing the thing which became another full-time job. I am very proud to have followed it through.
What are your writing goals for 2014?
God, is it 2014 already?! I’d like to write more fiction but not necessarily a sequel. We’ll see what inspiration strikes. It would be nice to complete a stream-of-consciousness work I started several years ago, too. I also want to help my dear friend and ally, Dr. Gene Nathan, complete his first book because his teachings are so amazing and need to be out there!
Are you working on something right now? If so, can you tell us more about it?
My 2nd book,Your True Voice, was just accepted for publication by Anyi Books, so I’m very excited about that. It is the nonfiction companion to The Unknown Mother. Unlike my first attempt with nonfiction, which felt like a drawn-out chore, I was able to write it in such a way that it combines elements of fiction with nonfiction making it quite unusual and a really fun tool for people drawn to this work. So whether or not people have read the 1st book, they can use the next one to unleash the power of the voice…and of course, together, they’re going to pack quite a punch.
Thanks for the interview!

When we bring our awareness to our voice and learn to express it in new ways, with impeccability, we rediscover our true message. Voice is the key to unlocking our power and magnificence.
