Hey, everyone. I’m Cassie, and I’m one of the main characters of House of Horrors, a book that takes place in Weirdville. The entire town seems convinced my Grandma, Cassandra – yep, I got my name from her – is a witch. It’s so bad people are even afraid of me because I’m her granddaughter.
I’m not one hundred percent certain whether Gran is a witch or not though. So I’ll make two lists: reasons why she couldn’t be a witch, and reasons why she could witch. Maybe when I’m done, you can help me decide!
Reasons why Grandma couldn’t be a witch:
- She’s nice to everyone. Seriously, she’ll talk to cats, dogs and all kinds of stray animals, take them in and feed them. She has a heart of gold.
- She’s never used any witchy powers in front of me before, and I visit her like every other day.
- Two neighbor kids broke into Gran’s house once, and she didn’t turn them into toads or anything, she just chased them with a broom.
- Gran’s favorite hobby is cooking, not witchcraft.
Reasons why Grandma could be a witch:
- She knows what’s going to happen before it really happens. Like, when the phone rings, she says a name and then picks up, and it’s always that person calling.
- She always seems to know what her pet animals want – go outside, have food, and so on.
- She sometimes talks to Grandpa’s spirit.
- Her house is filled with herbs, magic crystals and old spellbooks. But that doesn’t mean anything, lots of people believe in that without being a witch, right?
I’m still not sure, but hey, even if she’s a witch, then she’s a nice witch. Even if my friend Ben is terrified of her.
Cassie plays one of the main roles in House of Horrors, the second book in the Weirdville series. All books in this series can be read as stand-alones. House of Horrors releases on December 9, 2013.
