Fun With Vampires: Why Moving Is NOT Cool

Mwuahahaha! Looks like my evil plan to take over this blog has succeeded….Well, hello there! How are you? My name is Valentina, and I’m a vampire, which is kind of awesome and kind of scary. My family and I have recently moved into this gigantic mansion in a boring town in the middle of nowhere. However, it seems like we’re not the only ones occupying the house. I can’t give away anything more at the moment, but if you want to know what I’m up to, then read the Fun With Vampires posts here. Because vampires are FUN. Sometimes. When we’re not hungry. Else we get cranky, and then you don’t want to be around, trust me.

So today I’m going to talk about moving. Moving is NOT cool. You might think it’s fun considering that you’ll get to meet new people and see a brand new town, but it’s actually no fun at all. It’s really hectic. We spend about five weeks emptying our previous house, stacking everything into boxes and loading them into our hearse. Yes, we drive a hearse, which was so not my idea – my Dad thinks it’s sleek for vampires to drive hearses. I think it’s old-fashioned.

Either way, so we spend weeks packing until we’d fit everything we owned into hundreds of boxes. Dad has a large collection of vampire novels, so those alone filled like fifty boxes. And my brother Vlad – who is totally annoying and boring – has about two hundred action figures, which he wanted to bring along as well. My family are hoarders, what can I say?

Once we all got into the car, we had to drive for over eight hours until we reached town. The ride was awful. Because we’re vampires, we’re allergic to light. So there are blinds on all windows of our car, which makes it near impossible to ride. Dad got into a fit halfway through because Vlad needed to go to the bathroom for the third time in a row.  We ran out of board games to play by noon. When the car finally rolled into our new town, the sun had already vanished behind the horizon, and the moon peeked through a curtain of clouds. Dad pulled the blinds away so we could all watch the mansion as we drove toward it.

The house is LARGE. With that, I mean it looks like the kind of place you’d get lost in. But even if it’s sort of cool, I still wish I was back home, in our smaller house, with my friends. I’m not all that good at making friends, and I don’t want to be stuck in this new place with just Vlad.

So I’ll sum it up for you once more why moving is NOT cool:

  1. Spending eight hours in one car with Vlad is horrible.
  2. Not enough board games.
  3. Packing takes weeks.
  4. Unpacking probably takes weeks as well.
  5. Bathroom stops on your way over.
  6. Leaving your old friends behind.
  7. Having to make new friends.
  8. Definitely not a good idea of you have hoarders in your family.
  9. Not a good idea either if your family members are vampires.
  10. A new house where you can get lost in…All right, so maybe that is kind of cool, after all.

Next week, I’ll talk about 10 things you can’t forget to pack when moving into a new house. See you later, humans (and other creatures)!
