Author Interview for Hot Spring Tour
I’m hosting an author interview for the tour for “Hot Spring” today. I would like to thank the author for answering my questions and for being kind enough to offer an eBook copy as giveaway. You can find out more about the giveaway at the bottom of this post!
1) When did you know you wanted to be an author?
As I saw more people forgetting the past and neglecting the present, and doing things that were dull while insisting it was interesting, I thought I’d better write something fun and sensible to reconnect us to human experience.
2) Where did you get the inspiration from for Hot Spring?
Well first of all, hot spring baths in Japan are very fun, and I make an effort to visit one whenever I am there. As an alternative, I sometimes do my own hot bath with bath salts in my own bathtub. I want my story to be as fun as soaking in a hot tub on a chilly day.
Spring also means beginning, and this story features Godfrey and Chucky in the early stage of their travels. They are amicable, but starting to learn about their differences. One is a pleasure-seeker, while the other has the need to blend-in.
The story also features the Gao family, and the heir Jayden Gao is a young man who is learning to grow up in a global city like Singapore. Singapore is a hot tropical island that averages 30 degrees in the day throughout the year. So it’s a ‘hot spring experience’ for Jayden, Godfrey, Chucky, and the readers.
3) How long did it take you to write Hot Spring from start to finish?
Half a year of research and plot design, half a year of execution and another half a year of editing and reviewing. With a lot of holiday breaks and tutoring assignments in-between. So about almost 2 years.
4) Who was your favorite character to write about?
Godfrey is powerful, awesome and somewhat frightening. Chucky can be dull on his own but interesting next to Godfrey. For ‘Hot Spring’, Chucky was slightly more fun to write, but I can’t say it’ll stay that way for the series.
5) What are your writing goals for 2013?

6) Are you working on something right now? Can you tell us more about it?
I am working on the second book of Godfrey and Chucky adventures, and it is set in a prestigious American university. I am also working on a non-fiction book on the Tao that combines translation with essay commentary. I am doing this all slowly, because I have to balance my job as a personal tutor.

The Wonderful Adventures of Godfrey and Chucky
Godfrey is young, wealthy and able-bodied. He has all the women you can imagine, and unbelievably deep pockets. But Godfrey wants more. Author Bio
I committed myself to writing playful and profound books for discerning readers of good taste. I hope to give to my readers delightful characters in moving scenes that will help all of us to appreciate life better.
I have lived in parts of Asia, USA and Europe, so I hope to combine these diverse experiences to craft some great literature.
