Author Interview with Omon Hart

I’m hosting an interview with author Omon Hart, the author of fantasy novel “The PureLights of Ohm Totem”.

 1) When did you know you wanted to become an author?

I knew I wanted to be an author when I was 18 years old. If I ever prayed for something hard enough, this was it! I remember sitting at my small desk in my small room and putting my hands together with eyes shut, praying: “Please make me an author. I want to be an author. Please make me an author.” That’s probably not how you’re supposed to do it, but it worked!

 2) How long did it take you to write The PureLights of Ohm Totem from
 start to finish?

I started The PureLights of Ohm Totem back in 2008, but only spent about a week on it. So, I really didn’t start it until 2011. I was working full time and raising kids as I was writing it, leaving me with little time throughout the day to sit down and type. If I was a bachelor chugging on chips and salsa, I would have had it done in a couple of months. I don’t know why I thought of chips and salsa, not to mention ‘chugging’ it like a drink, but nonetheless, that’s what I pictured.

 3) What was the most challenging part to write?

Describing what I was saw in my mind was difficult to put down on paper. The world that The PureLights of Ohm Totem takes place in is full vivid colors, spirit animals, animal gestures, mannerisms, characteristics, you name it. It was a pretty tough book to write, but was pure joy, which I think shows throughout the book.

 4) What is your editing process like?

My editing process was amazing. I had two great editors help me out. One was a wonderful friend of mine and the other one was a sports massage client of mine. I’d write out my stuff, then they’d edit my stuff and when I’d write things like “stuff” they’d get on my case and ask me to find another word. They, in truth, were heaven sent. I couldn’t have done it without them.

 5) What are your writing goals for 2013?

My goals are to make the top 100 best sellers on Amazon list and to win some major writing contests. I’m crossing my fingers, hoping!
 6) Are you working on something right now? If so, can you tell us more about it?

Oh boy! I have a lot of goals. I’m in the middle of writing a fantasy fiction collaboration with 17 other writers. Each one of us are using our main hero characters from other books to protect one side of the city. Our task is to defend the last remnants of the human race. As the Orc Armies amass at the base of the mountainous city, our hero’s will do everything they can to keep the humans safe from extinction. They’ll be twists and turns. I can’t wait to see the final draft. It’s due to come out soon. It’s called, “The Battle of Ebulon”.

I’m also writing The PureLights & the PureLight Order: Book II of the PureLights Series and another book series that I don’t want to give the title away yet.

Author: Omon Hart

Genre: Fantasy

Zoey has a dream, one that feels far more real than it should. A strange wolf with a beautiful, violet crystal embedded in his forehead visits her. “Please help us,” the wolf implores with sad eyes. “Remember, Zoey, who you truly are.” Zoey wakes up, dismissing it as a silly dream. However, she soon realizes that it was far more real than she could’ve ever imagined.

Coda is Zoey’s older brother. Like many boys his age, he has a craving for adventure and a loathing for his younger sister. He can’t stand it that she constantly gets in his way, joining in on all his fun, and ruining it in the process. The worst, according to Coda, is that Zoey gets all the attention from their parents. A big drag in his mind.

Then destiny arrives, one that Zoey and Coda must face together – if they want to survive.

Together, they journey to a place deep in the Cornell Forest, beyond the Snow Tree, through a patch of blackberry bushes concealing a secret portal that leads them to an ancient world called Ohm Totem – to the place of the PureLights, the race beckoning for their help. There, Zoey and Coda discover something so unique, so magical, and so sacred within themselves, that even those who called for them could not have known how powerful these two children really are.

Caught between an age old war and finding their way back home, Zoey and Coda go on an amazing adventure, taking them beyond the veils of everything they once knew, and into the terrifying grasp of the unknown.
