Author Interview with A.F. Firebird
I’m hosting an author interview with A.F. Firebird, the author of metaphysical fiction novel “The Reluctant Goddess” today.
- When did you know you wanted to be an author?
It never occurred to me to be an author. This book just turned up in my head.
- Where did you get the inspiration from for The Reluctant Goddess?
The book just turned up in my head. I had never written even a short story before but there it was just knocking around in my head so I started to write it down. In the beginning it was like writing and reading at the same time I didn’t really know what was going to come out on the paper. Once the first draft was done I started the hard work of learning how to write.
-
What is your editing process like?
I had the book professionally edited so it worked out fine!
- How long did it take you to write The Reluctant Goddess from start to finish?
It took me 12 years to write it. Although I did not write regularly all that time.
- What are your writing goals for 2013?
I plan to finish the sequel to The Reluctant Goddess in 2013 and publish a few children’s stories.
- Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Whenever I see the word advice it reminds me of the saying “Take my advice I am not using it”. That aside I would say, find an idea that delights you then just write.
- Are you working on something right now? If so, can you tell us about it?
Currently I am working on the follow up to The Reluctant Goddess. The working title is The Adventures of Gordon Nesbit. It focuses on a being that comes to earth from a distant galaxy to help continue the work Ellena has started. Like Ellena he is a deeply compassionate, but also has experience dismantling ideas or traditions on planets where those ideas are holding back evolution. Gordon, the main character, is a courageous soul whose job it is to get people to let go of ideas that they hold dear. He is not very popular as you can imagine but it’s his job and someone has to do it.
