Author Interview with Eri Nelson

I’m hosting an author interview today with Eri Nelson, the author of “Call from Within”, the first book in the Dearhart Clan series. “Call from Within” is an erotic paranormal romance novel.

1) When did you know you wanted to be an author?

I think I am no different on this question as I am sure any author would undoubtedly reply with. Writing is something that is generally a part of your from the time we are able to grip pen to paper.

However, if asked when did you decide to put it within another’s hands? Well that would be more of a longer story (lol).

As I said above I cannot remember a time I did not write. However, I think it came clearer when I started writing short stories and sending them out to 300 Christmas Card Participants. This long list of family and friends grew as my words did. And it sparked my world and enflamed my thoughts of never being able to write more than a page or two.

It was not long before I wrote Destiny Repeats Twice. My forty thousand word book that ultimately sat on a shelf for a year. But before it could be published the call out for a short 15 thousand word body of paranormal crossed my desk. This book was called The Call From Within. This short introduction to the DHC (Dearhart Clan Series) was rejected based on the fact it was untraditional. However, that did not stop the story in my mind from going wild.

Therefore, with my unorthodox style in hand I worked to create the second in the series, Double Call From Desire and then the third, Heated Calls From Change. These stories grew as did their word counts until they became, as you may know them now.

2) How long did it take you to write ‘Call from Within’ from start to finish?

This book as I said in the above is relatively short since it was a mere introduction. Hence, the work took me three weeks to write and then months to refine and publish.

3) How many parts will there be in the Dearhart Clan series?

Currently there are 3 books. A fourth is planned for the winter of 2013. Ultimately, this book will change and form into a new series called INK. Here the Ink chapters will start off with Karina, who was introduced into the third book of Heated Calls From Change. This chapter will follow in suite with all the characters of the DHC. As the story weaves, its way so will the characters into the INK chapters until the story carries on with even more erotically dark primal adult paranormal intrigue.

4) What was the most challenging part about writing your novel?

I would have to say barring my soul to readers. Because my style is unorthodox it is often misperceived as to being written on the base of error.

Although it is true that I alone carry all the work of my books on my shoulders since I think of myself as a truest form of Indie author….. This does not mean that I am free from typos. However, with that said, my writing style often twists and turns and sometimes leaves a reader with misperceptions. But if you allow the words to carry my tune then the mystic twirl of words will dance their whim across your mind in rhythms you never knew existed.

5) What are your writing goals for 2013?

Typically as they usually are…. To reach as many readers as I can.

6) What is your editing process like?

Maddening (she replies with a giggle.)

I strive for perfection and I think that each installment grows as I do.

I am learning as many do with any process and it is my hope with every book that I will continue to surpass that last of my projects.

7) Are you working on something right now? If so, can you tell us more about it?

I would be delighted to tell you. Currently I am working on the second installment of the Isabella (Izzy) Tulley & Aiden Black Series, The Scent Of Power.

As it is for most of my work this book is far darker and more in depth that its predecessor. This series is normally over 40,000 words and this book will fair eerily similar.

I must warn readers though… This series is nothing like the DHC. Even the writing style is not that of the darker laced body of work. It is more light hearted and projects its action not only in humor but also in its spirit.

Izzy was my first to ever write so she will always have a very special piece of me within her pages. This I hope will always rain through to the reader as they travel the soggy trek amidst my rapidly pouring stream of action.

Eri Nelson born Erica Walcott is a Indie Author and the youngest of three in a family of five. Erica became Eri (airy) from her mother who called her that for as long as she could remember. The short take on her name took on a more solid base with the love of her life and husband, Jeff Nelson.

Together they have been for the past twenty years. Within that time they were able to raise one daughter and endless amount of pets.

Writing is a passion for her and an abundance of never ending joy. Only one thing tops that for Eri… and that is when a reader enjoys the read……
