Wednesday Weekly Writing Goals #2
Each Wednesday, I will list my weekly writing goals, and take a look at how I did last week. You’re welcome to join in!
Here’s how I did on last week’s goals. Things that have been crossed out are goals I accomplished.
Write 14k words in The Unnaturals. Reach a total of 14k words.Edit first chapter of Ghostslayer (3994 words).Edit second chapter of Ghostslayer (4419 words).Critique a chapter for my critique partners.
What? YES. You see that correctly. I managed all my goals for this week, which eithers means I had a super week (but I didn’t, because I’m in the middle of uni exams, so I’m quite busy) OR that this weekly goal idea is working. I’m betting on the latter, but of course it will take a bit longer to know if it’s actually doing me some good.
I finished the 14k words in the Unnaturals yesterday. I’ve had a steady count of about 2k words a day, with 1k words the last two days. The only problem now is that I’ll soon hit a major plot point and I have no freaking idea what to do next. The Unnaturals is one of those stories where I had an idea and began to write. No outline. So I’m in trouble. But still, I’m hoping for a sudden burst of inspiration.
Usually, I hate editing, but the more I’m editing, the more I’m starting to enjoy it. So far, I’ve edited the prologue and first two chapters of Ghostslayer, my NA paranormal romance / urban fantasy novel. It’s refreshing to cut a lot of backstory, make the characters more interesting and tighten the story.
Here are my goals for next week. Hopefully I’ll be able to reach them as well!
- Write 14k words in The Unnaturals. Reach a total of 28k words.
- Edit chapter three of Ghostslayer (2910 words).
- Edit chapter four of Ghostslayer (5920 words).
- Critique a chapter for my critique partners.
