Word Trackers for 2013
With the start of the New Year, we all have goals and resolutions we want to meet. But it’s hard to keep track of them, and sometimes you can’t see the forest through the trees anymore. Like if you want five hundred thousand or million words written at the end of the year, you’ll have a tough time if you don’t set any lower goals.
Since I have a lot of trouble tracking my goals and not giving up, I decided to make them smaller this year. The overall goal will still be there (which is now 600k words in 2013) but I’m dividing this into 50-60k words a month, so basically about 15k words a week. And that I’m dividing in around 2000 words a day.
Now, 2000 words a day looks a lot better than 600 000 words a year, doesn’t it?
A few days ago, I joined a writers group on Facebook and saw a post about word trackers, and someone who had made a few in EXCEL and now had them available for everyone for free. I decided to download one and start keeping track of my word goals, and it was AMAZING. Such a revelation!
The word tracker I use is made by the extremely talented Svenja Liv. You can download them here. She hade made word trackers for NaNoWriMo as well, but I downloaded the one for 2013, the Pirate version. Because I love Pirates.
I wanted to share this with you, and hopefully, if you have trouble keeping track of your manuscript as well, this can help you as much as it helped me!
