Valentina's Spooky Adventures

Valentina’s Spooky Adventures are a series of children’s books featuring Valentina, a young vampire girl.

Valentina and the Haunted Mansion

Valentina isn’t thrilled with her parents’ decision to move into an ancient, gigantic mansion in the middle of nowhere—filled with dark, unsettling rooms, and far away from civilization, where they don’t have to worry about hiding who they are. Sure, it may be perfect for a vampire family like hers, but moving here meant leaving her best friends behind.

The new house has some perks, though. Valentina gets to choose her own room, and when she explores the mansion on her own, she discovers a trophy room, a museum room, a music room, and much more.

From the moment Valentina started exploring, however, she’s felt someone watching her. Strange things start to happen all around her: footprints appear in the dust, a disembodied voice sneezes….

…and just because Valentina is a vampire, doesn’t mean she doesn’t get scared like any other little girl.

What was that? Someone just sneezed in here! Valentina spun around, but nobody was there.

Then she looked down and… a footprint had been left on the dusty floor.

“Who’s there?” Valentina shook from the top of her black hair to the bottom of her curled-up toes. “Where did you run off to?”

Shivers ran down Valentina’s spine as she walked into the hallway. What if it was a Stalking Skeleton? Or a Devilish Demon? It could be anything!

“Is somebody there?” she whispered. For a moment, everything stayed silent.

Valentina’s heart skipped a beat or two or ten as a door slammed shut at the end of the hallway.

Valentina and the Whackadoodle Witch

It’s not every day that a witch gets stuck in your chimney, dangling upside down.

When Valentina and her new-found friend Jerry play dress-up on the attic, the Whackadoodle Witch comes crashing down the chimney. She’s one of the most powerful witches of all time, but even she can’t free herself without a spell book.

Just one problem: that spell book was snatched by Masked Muggers, invisible thieves who steal valuable objects and hide them where you’d least expect it.

If Valentina and Jerry want to help the witch, they’ll have to search the house from top to bottom. Not an easy task in a house crawling with monsters in all shapes and sizes.

Book Excerpt One

Bang! A loud crash echoed through the room. Then another sound shot out—Bang! Bong! Boing!—as if someone had fallen and hit several bumps along the way.

“What was that?” Jerry’s eyes grew wide as he looked all around.

Valentina shrugged her shoulders. “I have no idea, but I think it came out of the chimney.”

She tiptoed toward the unused fireplace in the attic, took a deep breath to gather her courage, and peeked inside. The chimney was dark, too dark for her to see anything.

Book Excerpt Two

Crash! Valentina flew backward as an upside-down head with long grey hair appeared in the fireplace.

A woman hung upside-down from the chimney. Her head, arms and torso dangled freely, but she was apparently wedged in at the waist.

“Oh, for goodness sake, I’m stuck!” the woman said.

Valentina dared a step forward. “Don’t worry, we’ll pull you out.”

The woman smirked a little, as if to say, Well duh! “That would be great.”

Valentina and the Masked Mummy

When noises shake Valentina’s bedroom in the middle of the night, and her resident ghost, Jerry, hides under her bed, the little vampire girl tumbles into yet another adventure.

Eager to investigate the source of the uproar, she bumps into her brother Vlad in the hallway. He’s as clueless as she is, but at least he’s not as terrified of the noises as Jerry.

The trio follows the noise to the museum room, where they find an opened sarcophagus, and a mummy wearing a mask….

Book Excerpt One

“Psst,” Jerry whispered. He stuck his head out from under Valentina’s bed. “Are you awake?”

Valentina had met Jerry the ghost on the first day she moved in. He’d been about her age when he became a ghost, and even though Valentina wasn’t too fond of ghosts, they’d become friends.

She crawled to the edge of her bed and leaned over it to face Jerry. “What are you doing under my bed?”

“I got scared.” He trembled when he pointed his arm toward the door. “The noise comes from the museum room.”

So the three of them, the ghost and the two vampires in pajamas, armed with night lamps and pillows, tiptoed down the hallway toward the museum room.

Vlad took the lead, Valentina stayed right behind him, and Jerry trailed a little farther behind, trembling like a leaf and holding the pillow in front of his face.

Bang! Crash! Boing!

The noises grew louder as they moved closer to the museum room.
