Author Interview with Mirren Hogan

Today I’m interviewing Mirren Hogan, author of fantasy novel “Crimson Fire”. Thanks so much for dropping by and answering my questions.

When did you know you wanted to be an author?
Good question. I don’t think it was a conscious choice. I’ve always written and the logical next step to that always seemed to be to get things published. My first publishing credit was a poem when I was around 13, so it went from there.
What inspired you to write Crimson Fire?
I wanted to write something different, so I set in in a continent inspired by Africa. I also wanted to be more inclusive, so the main character is a lesbian.

What is your editing process like?
I just read it over and over until I’m happy with it, then get beta readers to rip into it.
What do you find the most challenging about being an author?
The marketing! I had no idea how much I’d have to do. Writing is the easy bit!

Are you working on something now?

I’m currently editing book 2 of Isskasala, titled Magic’s Fury and writing book 3, Firebird’s Magic.
