Author Interview with Augustina Van Hoven
I’m interviewing Augustina Van Hoven, author of paranormal romance “The Kiss of a Rose”. Welcome to my blog, Augustina, and thanks for taking the time to respond to my questions.
Author Interview
1.) When did you know you wanted to be an author?
I’ve always loved writing. I’m never without a notebook so I can write down story snippets and ideas as inspiration strikes.
2) Where did you get the inspiration for The Kiss of a Rose?
I lot of my inspiration comes from music. I was listening to the radio when Kissed by a Rose by Seal came on. The chorus talks about being kissed by a rose on a grave. I had a vision of an old gravestone with snow piled against it and a blood red rose nestled at its base. The rest of the story developed from there.
3) What is your editing process like?
Before I start writing each day I edit the chapter I wrote the day before. This helps me expand scenes and make sure I have continuity in my story. After I finish my first draft I wait for about two weeks then read through the complete manuscript. At this point I check all of my story and character arcs and intensify the emotions in each scene.
4) Did you set any writing goals for 2014? Did you accomplish them?
My goal for 2014 was to finish two new novels. Each one is the beginning of a series. I currently have them both out for submission.
5) What are your writing goals for 2015?
I have an ambitious writing schedule for 2015. I plan to write a sequel to The Kiss of a Rose and the first book in three brand new series.
6) Are you working on something now? If so, can you tell us a little about it?
I am currently working on a time travel series. The first book will be finished by the end of January. I love time travel stories, especially the fish out of water aspect of helping my characters survive in a time that is not their own. In this story the heroine finds herself in a small mining town in 1876.
About The Book
Author: Augustina Van Hoven
Genre: Paranormal Romance
A DISTANT PAST
In 1882, Rose Van Buren loved the wrong man and paid for it with her life. Now, more than a century later, the angel Gabriel has granted her another shot at living. In exchange, she must convince a smart, handsome, up-and-coming lawyer to set aside his lofty ambitions.
A FUTURE PRESENT
Stephen Winship is headed straight for the governor’s chair. He has a brilliant career, solid allies, and a seemingly perfect girlfriend. But night after night he finds himself dreaming of a heavenly beauty, a luminous but long-dead girl. Like some altered Ghost of Christmas Past, she shows him her own tragic tale in order to “save him.” And he’s beginning to see Rose is risking her heart as much as baring her soul. Yet falling for her will cost him everything—and open him up to a happiness he never imagined.
