Author Interview with Amanda Cowen
I’m hosting an interview with Amanda Cowen, author of contemporary romance “Between Friends”. Enjoy the interview!
When did you know you wanted to become an author?
For as long as I can remember I have written stories and novels. It’s something that is just in me to do. I don’t think I ever thought, I want to be become an author…I just LOVE writing! And twenty five years later I was brave enough to publish and share my stories.
Where did you get the inspiration for Between Friends?
Between Friends was inspired and is based loosely on my group of friends that I have had since the seventh grade. Before Between Friends, I was working on another contemporary romance when my closest male best friend called me to tell me was engaged. We had been best friends forever, and I started to wonder what it would have been like if we had ever crossed the friendship line…then a light bulb went off in my head and I was like… wait…that is a great idea for a contemporary romance!
What is your editing process like?
Exhausting! For me editing is the worst part, which is why for my next novel I have hired an editor.
What was the most challenging part about writing your book?
Finding the time!!! As much as I would love for writing to be my full-time job, it isn’t. And with two kids and a busy schedule, finding time for my writing can be challenging.
What are your writing goals for 2014?
Have my second novel PERFECT SENSE published by its anticipated release date of December 2014 and the first draft of PERFECT LOVE completed, which is the second book to PERFECT SENSE.
Are you working on something? If so, can you tell us more about it?
Right now I am working on my next contemporary romance PERFECT SENSE that is anticipated to release Winter 2014. And I am really excited about this novel! I really pushed some of my personal limits when writing this one. I like to read fluffy and I like to write fluffy, but once I started writing this novel, I realized that this time, my story couldn’t be all fluff. Perfect Sense has darker elements than other things I have written before, but no matter what I write, I can guarantee that there will always be a funny and flirty side to my story. I love Quinn, my female lead because she is sassy and driven. And I especially love my male lead, Cash, a hot and demanding jock who always has just the right amount of stubble in every chapter haha.

Amanda Cowen can be found eating cupcakes, singing off-key, or watching a good RomCom when she isn’t trapped on her computer writing stories and delighting her imagination. She has been writing since the ripe age of twelve about ponies and princesses in brightly colored duo-tangs with metallic pens. Thankfully, she now has a Mac with a keyboard where she can write about love, sex and relationships. She is an “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” fanatic, a hater of roller-coasters and a country music junkie. She lives in Thunder Bay, ON where the summers are short and the winters are long.
