Camp NaNoWriMo June #1: Marathon to 10k words.
I challenged myself yesterday to reach 10k words on the first day of Camp NaNoWriMo. Guess what? I succeeded. The first 10k words is done, and I feel happy, releived, pleased and a lot more. I hope to reach 15k today, but that would probably be wishful thinking. At this pace, I’ll definitely reach my goal of finishing the entire novel (more than 50k words, but probably less than 60k) in one month. However, with exams drawing closer, I’m sure the pace will drop significantly the next few weeks.
Anyhow, I have a headstart and more importantly, I have inspiration. I know where I’m going with the story, I have an outline, I have a kick-ass new character who’s introduced right at the start of the book and who adds so much more to the story, and I have a cast of characters I absolutely love.
I’d also like to give a shout out to my fellow cabin members: Lizzy Lee, Inkhearted and VJ. Most of them are either working on a YA novel (like I am) or on a mystery/thriller novel (like I am). So we make a great match. We already set up a chat, and I’m hoping to start chatting with my other cabin members soon!
Are you participating in Camp NaNoWriMo If you are, what are you going to work on this month? How’s it going so far? How many words do you have so far?
10k, that is impressive! I wish I could take part but June is my major exam worth so the worst time to do something like this :/
